I'm writing a compiler for a systems language focused on concurrency and parallelism. It’s a re-engineering of a prior work, with an explicit emphasis on memory management and type safety, plus first-class parallel primitives at the language level.
The language is now capable of compiling a substantial portion of its own source code to tokens using a single-pass C back-end. The self-hosted compiler includes a handwritten lexer and a parser, with an arena-based allocator to support fast compilation and eliminate GC complexity.
The primary goals for the project are: First-class parallel and concurrent constructs built directly into the language, strong static memory and type guarantees, and a toolchain suitable for building high-performance software
Example:
def main() {
parallel local(mut arena: Arena) {
arena = Arena.create(1024);
val tid = Parallel.thread_id();
val result = worker(ref_of(arena), tid);
println $"Thread {tid} computed {result}";
Arena.destroy(ref_of(arena));
}
}

I don’t consider it a political party. It’s just a group of people, taking their online rage bait into the real world. And a corrupt billionaire is their leader all because he rage baits the people they have distaste for. The cognitive dissonance is what gets to me. You can print out court documents of all the felonies he was charged for. And all the videos of him admitting to disgusting acts. Yet they will still say “it’s not real, Joe Biden tampered the legal documents”. Joe Biden doesn’t know his ass from his elbow and they believe he can commit fraud because Fox News or some conspiracy theorist, dwelling in his mom’s basement said so!
They can’t critically think because their only sources are an echo chamber of horrendous brain rot. It’s what THEY want to hear. It’s not hard to pull up an unbiased source from the internet for information. Most news outlets are biased regardless if they’re liberal or republican. I feel as if these people are emotionally stunted at age 14, due to drugs and dropping out of school at an early age. And they’re angry about life in general, so being an Alt Right MAGA mf resonates with them.

Hi HN, I’m one of the authors of this post.
We’ve updated Docker Model Runner to support vLLM alongside the existing llama.cpp backend. The goal is to bridge the gap between local prototyping (often done with GGUF/llama.cpp) and high-throughput production (often done with Safetensors/vLLM) using a consistent Docker workflow.
Key technical details:
Auto-routing: The tool detects the model format. If you pull a GGUF model, it routes to llama.cpp. If you pull a Safetensors model, it routes to vLLM.
API: It exposes an OpenAI-compatible API (/v1/chat/completions), so the client code doesn't need to change based on the backend.
Usage: It’s just docker model run ai/smollm2-vllm.
Current Limitations:
Right now, the vLLM backend is optimized for x86_64 with Nvidia GPUs.
We are actively working on WSL2 support for Windows users and DGX Spark compatibility.
Happy to answer any questions about the integration or the roadmap!

Throwaway account. This is a dumb argument but I need people to weigh in.
I ( M,42) have a cleaning lady who comes every other week. She’s super hardworking, really nice, and I completely trust her. She comes while I’m at work and I get to come home to a clean house ! the best feeling.
One time she told me she drank a can of Pepsi from my fridge and even asked if she should pay me back. I told her she 100% has my permission to take a break and eat/drink whatever she needs while she’s here. Since then she’ll occasionally have a pop, a glass of juice, or once she said she had a piece of toast. She’s never helped herself to any meals, snacks, or anything beyond that.
My girlfriend(f,38) was over the other night and said she saw my cleaning lady “stealing from the fridge.” I told her she wasn’t stealing lol she has my permission, and she’s definitely not sitting around being lazy. She was taking a break ! My girlfriend said it’s weird, unprofessional, and that it could lead to “boundary crossing.” I told her I’ve known this woman for two years and nothing like that has ever happened. GF thinks I should fire her before it “gets worse.”
Am I wrong for thinking: why change something that’s been working perfectly fine? Am I being weird ?

The 9/11 Attacks (September 11, 2001)
On a beautiful autumn day in 2001, three hijacked Boeing 747 passenger jets crashed into the Pentagon in Washington DC and the iconic Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, forever changing the social fabric of the United States of America.
It may sound cliche, but for Americans of a certain age, this was the watershed moment of our lives. The clearest picture of an America before and after. The 1990s were a time of relative peace and prosperity in the United States. We were 20 years removed from our last major ground war. The Cold War had ended, and with it the twin threats of Communism and nuclear war. One last gasp of Pax Americana.
Before we all watched it come crashing down on live television.
The 9/11 attacks directly led to increased xenophobia and racial violence, with Muslims of all nations attacked indiscriminately in those early days. We wasted 20 years and thousands of men fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, leaving behind nothing but broken promises and bodies. We still profoundly feel the effects of this event every single day, as it directly shaped the America we live in today.

Edit: I sent this to my son and dil.
My son and dil ( Emily) are staying in our home probably for the next month due to water damage in there home. The company is fixing the damage but the flooring was damaged so it’s not very livable right now.
They have only been here less than a week and I am having an issue. I work nights I come back home around 6:30 am and then go to bed. My husband is usually up so I make him a coffee/ breakfast before I turn in.
Just something like to do, more quality time before he heads to work. I asked my son and Emily if they would also like coffee or breakfast before they go to work.
They said no to food but yes to coffee. That was easy and I just made two extra cups. I asked them to tell me if they want me to change how to make their coffee. I thought they would just tell me, use this cream or if they had a preference on blend.
Emily texted me last night and said she left instructions for the coffee.
This morning I came home to very detail instructions how to make a complex coffee. It was like a Starbucks drink, she wanted foamed milk on top, different syrups, a specific coffee bean ( ground fresh…) and a difffernt brewing method ( we have a drip coffee machine) most of the stuff was one the counter.
I decided I wasn’t doing that and just made the normal coffee. Emily wasn’t happy and we got into a argument before she went to work
I basically told her I am not a Starbucks barrista and I am not going all that. She told me I shouldn’t have offered in the first place if I wouldn’t make the coffee to her liking. We left on a sour note.
I have been getting texts from my son about not being hospitable so I am having trouble sleeping at the moment
Should I just make the coffee
