Throwaway.
Gf and I been together for six months and our relationship is generally great. However, there’s one recurring issue....she has trust issues. She strongly dislikes my female friends and gets possessive/jealous when I interact with them or any girl for that matter. Whenever we’re out in public she thinks that women are hitting on me even if they’re just being friendly. Apparently I’m too oblivious to notice but I honestly think she’s just making up stuff. She’s also extremely worried that I’ll cheat on her which is stupid. That’s not who I am and I despise cheaters. She even admitted that she was never cheated on in the past so I don’t understand where this paranoia comes from.
Anyway, onto the issue
A few days ago I was home alone when a stranger knocked on my door. It was a girl around my age and she said she got lost in the area, lost her phone etc. She asked if she could step inside for a moment to make a call using my phone. Yes, I let her in. I admit I was stunned by how pretty she was but that hardly influenced my decision. Once she entered her behavior changed. She got really flirty and when I told her it’s time to leave she came onto me very aggressively. Long story short, I managed to kick her out but it was pretty bizarre. I actually texted my gf about the incident who pretended to be shocked.
That same evening my gf FaceTimed me smiling and said that I “passed the test”. The girl who was with me just hours earlier was with her and they were both congratulating me. Gf explained their whole plan and said that she was really proud. I was just pissed off and confused more than anything. Later we spoke on the phone and I told her that this was a terrible, childish idea all around. We started arguing and she said that I had no empathy and should see things from her POV.
I always knew that she had trust issues but this takes it too far. I think it’s all pretty insulting actually. The twist is that the girl texted me last night and said that she’s really “impressed” by the way I handled myself and that she finds it “attractive”. She even said that I deserve better than my gf and suggested I should dump her. So gf’s plan backfired in a way because now her accomplice is urging me to end the relationship.
I’m slowly getting tired of her insecurities. However I really like her and wouldn’t want something as stupid as this to ruin our relationship. Is it possible for her to change or should I be realistic?
TL;DR Gf hired a girl to seduce me as a “test”. We argued, she apologized and said that I should have more empathy. I think it’s obvious she doesn’t trust me at all. How do I deal with this?
