Read Better Quote: April 2020

I am - * A Pre-Final year Undergraduate Student * An Open-Source lover * An intern at a decent(I find it really nice) startup * Currently interested in JS, Rust and Compilers

But, during this lockdown I am facing problems regarding my routine. I can't concentrate during day either due to procrasination or due to some disturbances related to doing / helping out in houselhold work and thus, end up staying late in night (somtimes till morning) and then, next day wake up late. This is - * Affecting my health * Affecting my work * I am not able to find time to contribute to Open-Source * I end up getting regrets daily for sleeping till late hours everyday

Thus, please help me to fix my routine.

An ideal day for me would be where I work with full concentration for the stipulated time for my intern work, then find some time for open-source as well as self-learning (read books/learn new tech), get some exercise to burn off fat and also, help out my parents in some work as well.

The man ask the frog if he will marry him. The frog says no and the man felt a trembling and shake, looked down his pants and noticed his penis shrank by 5 inches. The man asked the frog again, “Frog, will you marry me?”. The frog again said no. The man felt the trembling and shaking again and noticed his penis shrank by 5 more inches.

He thought to himself, “This is great! All I gotta do is ask the frog one more time and he will say no and I’ll have a 10 in perfect penis and every woman will want to have sex with me”. He proceeded to ask the frog one more time “Frog, will you marry me?”

How do you keep the files you are working on in your head when programming?

I find that this is the biggest pain point for me. When I am working on a task, it usually ends up spanning several files. And I just don't have very good memory.

I struggle to remember if I had some new variable in the Logger or the Worker, etc. It's usually trivial to see the list of files I'm working in and check between a couple, but I'd love to know if anyone has a memory palace kind of technique they use for programming.

Alexa.com seems to be on a downhill, it used to be the canonical site for finding traffic ranking info, among other metrics, of other websites. Did Amazon simply buy the domain not because of the functionality it provided, but because they needed the name for their Siri-like Alexa device?

Which tools do you use mostly to write a design document (Other than Google Docs)?

Design review means:

- Someone writes a requirement doc - Engg then writes a design documemt - Peers then discuss and review this doc - Finally peers approve it and implementation starts - This doc then serves as reference throughout the implementation.

Ask HN: I want to share files from the screen lock of my phone

I'm living in a country where I have to show documents to policemen because they restrict movements because of the flu COVID19. The easiest way is to generate a PDF from a state website.

I'm doing the same thing when I go to the cinema or when I take the train: I show or give my phone to allow the entitled person to check a PDF or a barcode that proves I am allowed to be here.

When I do that my phone is unlocked.

Police, robbers can steal my unlocked phone when I do that.

Stupid joke but if Julian Assange needs to show a barcode when he goes to the cinema, he needs to present his unlocked phone to a stranger.

I'm not Assange, but today I felt very stupid when a city policeman (not a state policeman) asked me for my document when I was in the street with my wife and kids. I didn't trust him because he was obviously a city security guard and not a policeman, I asked if he had the authorization to perform this check, but in the end I gave him my unlocked phone to allow him to check my document (everything was OK according to the law).

Conclusion: I need an app to share only some selected files from the screen lock.

When I take the train, I need to "share" for some hours my traveling documents to this app, it will allow me to pass the barcode scanners without unlocking my phone.

I think the HN people might consider this coding opportunity.

Ask HN: Any resource on how to repair MacBook logic board?

My macbook won't turn on and I am afraid that it is a logic board issue. In other times I think I would be shopping for a new laptop but I am thinking that with the quarantine I have some time to try and fix it myself. I am watching some videos on how to debug the circuit board issues[1] and I am wondering if anyone has any personal experience doing this. Any resources you could share in how to get started would be greatly appreciated!
